Alan Gould @ The Brett Whiteley Studio

I've been to The Brett Whitely Studio at Surry Hills to attend poetry event. As matter of fact I didn't know much about this event but marry, my teacher who teaches me everything about adjusting in Australia, invited me to the poetry club.

It wasn't easy to walk to get the studio in raining and windy day, however air was so fresh and many greens along the Devonshire street. It reminded me about my home town in Korea.

When I got there some staff were testing microphone system and arranging sits. After few minuites later Mary arrived at studio and we just looked around inside of studio. The studio was the workplace and home of Australian artist Brett Whiteley(1939-1992). I could see his photo at 2nd floor which used to be his living area and he looked like a rock star. Interestingly I found old style black telephone at there and when I picked up the phone I could hear interview sound with Brett Whiteley with ABC Radio.

[Above] Brett Whiteley at his workplace.

And there was something else such as his unfinished paintings, art equipment, collections of reference books, music collection and sketchbooks. Brett Whiteley bought the former warehouse in 1985 and converted it into a studio and exhibition space. He lived there from 1988 to 1992, the year he died in Thirroul. (see location)

Neutral Bay

We've been to Neutral Bay today. I've heard about this town so many times from Japanese friends and magazines. So I always was curious about this areas. (Neutral Bay, Cremorne and Kirribilli...)

A few days ago, I picked up Japaralia which is one of free Japanese comunity magazine from Sussex Street food court and they had article about Neutral Bay junction as a this month's special town. They also introduced some nice shops to readers with map location.
We took the bus at stand D on the York Street near QVB. (You can get there with any buses at stand D.) After crossing the Harbour Bridge, we got off on Millitery Road in Neutral Bay junction.

As there are many Japanese people living at Neutral Bay, we expected some ethnic town such as Strathfield, but it wasn't like that at all.
Of course there were many Japanese restaurants, however all shops were located seperately unlike Strathfield where many Korean shops are located together at main street continously.

We had late lunch at Il Paradiso, Italian restaurant in shopping centre on the Millitary Road.
I tried "Smoked salmon melted" and my husband ordered "Lasagne".
We sat outside enjoying Saturday afternoon meal with breeze and view which we haven't had for a while especially after we moved to City.

Then we looked around the town and bought some heart shape sugars(picture) at Angelique's gifts shop which is introdued on the magazine. It was $3.95 each and shop located on Waters Road and we had 10% discount with buying 10 of them.

Max Brenner "Sukao"

We've been to Max Brenner, famous cafe for ice hot chocolate which is located at underground level of David Jones At City.

Actually we had tried Max brenner's hot chocolate at Manly from one located inside whalf shopping centre and enjoyed a cup of takeaway hot chocolate while riding ferry back to city

Meanwhile we were really curious about cup set they had with candle at the bottom to heat up the content.

when we visited Max Brenner at city location, we had to ask about cup set with candle and found about its called "sukao".

So we decieded to try it and I chose dark chocolate and my husband's one was milk chocolate.

It served as shown as first photo with frothed milk and chocolate chips of flavour we ordered. To drink it we had to melt it bit by bit.

It was fun and worth to try it once, but annoying works with constant stir required. So we decieded to try regular hot chocolate which has good amount to drink with even cheaper price than sukao when we visite them again.

Sukao was $5.50 and for more information visite their website http://www.maxbrenner.com.au

Finally I can make a category!

I can't make a category. I've thought about this disadvantage quite long time. That's one of reasons why I couldn't go further on this blog. However finally I found out the solution. So I'll start to develop my own Reference Tools Blog!! And I also would like to write some journals about my favourite stuff and happy moment of life. Good luck to me!
